River Island, look what you gone done.

So, what’s happened to River Island? It’s suddenly got good, or at least considerably better than the whoring clothes it used to dole out to sixteen year olds. Glorious dresses and skirts and some stellar heels. Flower prints are in abundance, as are colours – primarily used for updating your staples – pencil skirts, cap sleeve dresses, shifts – as well as championing all the ‘tulipness’ that is STILL going on, peplum skirts and dresses, and a little bit of puffball. Still not sure about the puffball… The shoes are verging on whore territory but old habits die hard, and isn’t that what heels are all about? The accessories are pretty sucky (some nice belts) and we should all steer clear of the ubiquitous slogan-style, animal print, union jack and band tees – I guess you can’t win ’em all. Come payday I am getting me down to River Island to pick up some of these lovely threads.

It’s also worth checking Ebay, if you’ve got the patience to work your way through the dirge. I found the blue floral/bird print dress (below) on there recently and I desperately wanted it for a wedding but was outbid, and now it’s sold out everywhere due to appearing in every fashion magazine on the planet. ROAR. Dang fashion magazines making people buy the clothes that were made for me. Never mind, there are still some gems to be found. Sizes run small though…
