Posted in adventures on August 28th, 2010 by emma – Be the first to commentAnother day, another cup of tea and a bacon sandwich. This Bank Holiday weekend is full of hope and back pain. Leftfield and Aphex Twin. Packing and boxes. And my iPhone is arriving on Monday – am too excited. I’m excited because I haven’t had one yet and because now I can start to impress upon Maffews the amount of iPhone pain I’ve put up with over the years. I’m pretty sure I’m going to turn inward, but also out – hipstamatic uploads, constant tweeting, Spotify music in my earholes, watching stuff on the bus on the way to work, checking out what the world is up to. I really hate it but I’ve got to put one in my pocket soon, or else I’ll fall off the world and it’s Apple turning ways.
Here’s to a three day weekend (I doubt there’ll be the sunshine Etienne De Crecy hoped for) complete with boxes and beer.
Wine gets drunk with flowers and sky
Posted in adventures, pikkers on August 26th, 2010 by emma – Be the first to commentGot involved in some Diana action a while back and this is the fruit of my loom. Think it was in Bath at Easter and it was hot. Hot hot. We ate mussels with amazing bread and then we went and had a BBQ with amazing sausages. Merguez.
One midnight call changed it all…

Posted in heart, sounds on August 24th, 2010 by emma – Be the first to commentNot long ago Janey Mac (and her huge heart) took me to see ‘The Unthanks’ at Union Chapel and I had no clue what to expect. We got caught in a downpour just before reaching Union Chapel so the steam was rising as we took to our pew to endure the support act – turdy, really turdy but we laughed and sort of shuddered and got through the pain together. No booze in the Chapel so we sober and ready. Then ‘The Unthanks’. Man, I have no idea how to put into words the effect that they cause, but it wells up and then emanates from them, you, the people in the seats below. And then there’s the clogs and dresses.
Totally magical. It made me feel like a girl – warm, soft and full of tingles in my cheeks and water in my eyes. I’d like to breathe it all in again.
I was afraid of what might be
