My birthday is coming. That’s a Jay-Z lyric just because I feel like it.

look up more

We’re going to hang out and play with plastic cameras today, eat meat at Le Comptoir Gascon, walk around Laaaaandan town and drink wine. And I’m thinking I’d like a dirty martini. I’ve also got Monday off work – how freaking exciting. Seriously, it’s the small things. So, Monday is perfect hanging with Janey Mac time and getting a hairchop at Hob.

Oh beautiful birthday weekend, here you are with arms open and lips pursed and I’m almost ready to embrace you. Almost.

I hope everyone in the world has a great weekend. And you know what you should do? Donate. NOW.

A cat, some dreams and a Saturday built out of frugality

A cat. I’m not sure where this image came from but I know it was a good blog, a very good blog but I read so many good blogs that I forget.

Last night I dreamt I was drinking a massive Starbucks Caramel Macchiato, walking around houses with huge garages which hid huge lorries full of something but I don’t know what, then I was on a train near the coast and all the time it was raining and then I was in bed and Andy was eating cold noodles. And I dreamt The Vamoose opened her new shop and it was all too beautiful.

Morning! Now, off to make potato bread, dropped scones and other things with flour and whatever is in the fridge. We are poor until next week so the frugal life is upon us – we are holding its hand and smiling but underneath it all wishing we could buy a Chinese takeaway.

We found a new flat, it was the third one we saw, the same as last time. It’s bang next to where we thought we wanted to live, at the end of the road where our favourite pub sits and where we’ll be playing 7″ singles, drinking Leffe and eating pizza made by Poles. High up, near good coffee, and possibly bad Chinese. It has funny wallpaper that I like and my lover does not. It has built-in storage for dresses and shoes and full length mirrors. A place for bikes and a view. Only a short walk for watermelon juice. My bus stops at the bottom of the road. Football in a pub close by with sparkly wine and Guinness. Feels right and there are no cunts in sight.

Today brings baking potato bread, pavlova and cooking roasted squash with sausages. It’s not been a bad weekend, and now there’s wine.

Today

If you have Spotify listen to Karen Elson and Cat Power do Serge, I love you.
Works. Feels like a cold hand on a warm back. Good.

Today I need to go find a new flat, make something with broad beans and onion squash, watch ‘The Diving Bell and the Butterfly’ and maybe listen to some good tunes on the stere-O.

IT COULD BE WORSE

könnte schlimmer sein, originally uploaded by i_hear_noises.

The weekend is almost here and I swear I could not be happier about that. I woke up this morning thinking, ‘Hello Friday. I’ve been waiting for you since Sunday night.’ How great. A whole Saturday and Sunday to do nothing and something. It’s going to be be good. I’m home alone this weekend and that means ‘Emmatime’. Emmatime usually equates to baking stuff, sleeping, making stuff, blogging, looking at stuff I can’t afford, watching films I can’t watch when Maffews is home, and wearing my new bunny suit. (Yes, bunny suit, weird but amazing.) Come on, one last push, and we’ll be there, at the end of the working day. It’s never felt so close.

Columbia Road Flower Market

Sunday will unfurl into a huge picture taking opportunity + flowers + pints + pub lunch at Columbia Road Flower Market. I’m hoping to buy good coffee, tea cups, ridiculous things and flowers, nice flowers.

So says Mr Chuck Palahniuk and I agree and also disagree. I mostly ask people so they’ll talk and I won’t have to, and because it’s something to cut into the silence when you’re in a lift with a colleague on Monday morning and there’s nothing else to say. Man, that lift can feel so cold. And I hate the word colleague.

The weekend is here and it brings good times with my cousin. Today we shoot off to Borough Market to hang, hopefully drink Monmouth Coffee, look at nice food and then chow down at The Garrison. It’s going to be good – the sun is shining, the D70 will come along and many words will be spoken.

Sunday got an injection of free excitement jacked into it by a sweet win from Girl Meets Dress, Janey B and I will be hitting Somerset House and London Fashion Weekend for designer discounts and maybe a glass of champagne.

Hello pretty weekend, you have given me something to talk about when the cold Monday morning casts it’s too bright light into my still-stuck-in-the-weekend eyes.

Day Tripper(s)

I’m off to Bruges on Monday with my lovely mum. I’m hopeful it’ll be cold but not too cold, the beer will be beery and the sights will make our wee eyes shiny and happy. I need to remember my camera…
