What’s going on?

Posted in weekly on November 7th, 2011 by emma – Be the first to comment

A week has almost been and gone so here’s a roundup of good stuff I found, saw, thought about, heard and wished for:

BLOGS
A couple of the blogs I’ve enjoyed this week:
I'm Revolting is pure genius, the Pinterest boards are also amazing.
That Kate is a lovely blog depicting what Kate’s been up to. She always seems to have the best times and the photos are just beautiful. She also has a set on Flickr that I always go back to – I Like Words.

The Movie Title Stills Collection is all kinds of awesome.

WISHLIST
I keep my wishlist going strong over on Pinterest as it’s a great place to store all the things that inspire me (all the stuff I wish I could afford), as well as see what inspires everyone else. Typically, my wishlist is full of clothes…
Cute Zara wool messenger bag.
I’m a sucker for animal jewellery so I love this Lazy Oaf leopard necklace and this bumblebee necklace from Alex Munroe.
This David Shrigley pillowcase set would definitely help me sleep better. Definitely.
Topshop scatter stud dress – this looks and feels good in real life.
Bright blue cardi from ASOS.
This necklace from Dannijo is the best collar necklace I’ve seen so far. Beautiful. Topshop is knocking out some but they’re nowhere near as pretty as this.

Amazing mog plate from Donna Wilson.

ART
We caught the last day of the Edgar Martins exhibition at The Wapping Project on Saturday. I did a little blog about it.

ASSIGNMENT
I’ve been invited to participate in The Wing Assignment. I love an assignment, I think it’s because I’m at my most productive when I’ve got a brief. This is especially appealing as all those involved are given the actual wing or wings of a bird which they’ll use in an artwork, or as inspiration. (The wings are a by-product of the food industry.) Exciting stuff. My friend, the super talented Nina Farrell, is the brains behind the Assignment.

MUSIC
Since I heard about Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon splitting up I’ve been listening to A LOT of Sonic Youth. Turns out forever is not always forever.

Other good stuff:
Wild Flag – Romance
Little Roy – Come As You Are
Dive – Sometime
Jay Electronica w/ Mobb Deep – Call of Duty
I am listening to everything by Vondelpark.

Going Nowhere

Posted in heart on August 15th, 2010 by emma – Be the first to comment

Today’s a bus ride to nowhere in particular.

Reading a book from the growing tower beside our bed, blogging, tea-drinking, ‘Rough Trade’ listening, making some food out of the amassing collection of vegetables taking over the fridge, making some other kinds of stuffs, some packing, maybe watch a film off the ole iToons Store and chill out. Thought I’d be going in to work today, but nope, I’ll go in tomorrow AM at stupid o’clock. Hope the time ticks along slowly today. So, here’s some stuff that’s going down, looks good, smells good, tastes good and that I want to touch, taste, feel, hear.

Listening to this

Watching this: Sherlock on BBC iPlayer

Looking at this: BP Portrait Award at National Portrait Gallery – some good, some not so good and the Gallery smells funny. But go, and eat frozen yogurt aferwards.

Dreaming of wearing this: David David dress at Frances May

Going to pay a visit to the BFI to see Jack in action.

Put these in your ears and get some stag in your life.

Eyes like the look.

Two things

It’s the time for coats to fall off hangers and into palms and onto backs. It’s time for me to think too much that if I don’t buy my Autumn coat now, I’m doomed to never find the one I want. These two beauties seem like a good place to start.

Waiting for Autumn

Whistles and Topshop A/W10. I’m ready for the wind and the rain. Bring it.

Hunting high and low

The quest for the perfect ankle boots is eating up a considerable portion of my internetting time and I’m yet to find boots as sweet as the Trinket boots at Dune but they’re all sold out bar size three, damn you my bigger than size three feet. Perry boots at Topshop look good on the website but not so great in real life and £135 seems a tad too much. The search goes on…

What a shocker

Or not. What a surprise that all the decent stuff from the Kate Moss for Topshop (that just dropped this morning) has already sold out and will soon be is appearing on eBay with a jacked up price tag. Lovely. Everyone is banging out about how it’s the best collection she’s ever done and maybe it is – if you’re going as a guest to a wedding this summer, if you’re the bride at a wedding this summer, or if you have a desire to look like the icing on a cupcake at a garden party where everyone is trying too hard. Argh, maybe I’m jealous, or just bored by it. I like the muted colours, the flourish and flounce, and the Gatsby-party vibe emanating from it but ultimately it’s lacking edge. If I had to pick my hits they’d be these (I know I have included an Essentials tee here but it’s one of the best things in the collection):

The lingerie looks good but just need to remember it runs small, like AP sizes only a bit smaller.

Or just check out the Meadham Kirchhoff collection for 100% goodness.

What happened?

I thought I hated wedges. I do, mostly. But there’s something about the new buckled wedges that are driving me to distraction. With peg trousers, tapered trousers, shorts, skinny jeans. There’s something appealing yet utilitarian about them – they’re simple, but they sort of say ‘Hey you, yea you. Fuck you and your ideas about wedges. Check me out.’ And I can’t help but check them out.

If you have the cash then you need to go to Surface to Air but if you’re not so rich Topshop and Office have some good ones.

Shark attack

Ok, that’s a shit title but this is not shit.

This little number is by Unique at Topshop. There’s a dress on there as well, and I saw Rhianna wearing half of something in this print on the Alan Carr show. I like the jumper. A lot.

Found via fur coat, no knickers

There’s a dog on my jumper

Or at least I wish there was.
